Metallic Scent Part. 9 arrives at a point of culmination in the series — the industrial and organic forces that have circled one another throughout now occupy the composition with equal authority. Henry Hu spreads metallic planes across the full picture field, their cool authority interrupted only by the persistent intrusion of fluid, almost biological shapes pressing in from the edges. There is a sense of resolution without conclusion: the tension is not resolved so much as held, suspended in a final confrontation that feels monumental in its quietness.
